TOYOTA

An integrated advertising campaign concept developed as part of a University of Melbourne project in partnership with Saatchi & Saatchi.

How do you make vehicle safety feel like something more than a rating?

Working from a brief for Toyota Australia, our team developed an integrated advertising campaign designed to bring a more human perspective to vehicle safety. Rather than focusing solely on technical features and five-star safety ratings, we explored how storytelling could connect Toyota's commitment to safety with the everyday moments that matter most.

The result was It's Always a Five-Star Journey, a creative campaign concept combining emotional storytelling, audience insights, and a multichannel media strategy to communicate Toyota's safety message in a more relatable and memorable way.

Brand Strategy

Our approach began with understanding Toyota's position in the Australian market, its competitors, and the audiences most likely to connect with its safety messaging. We identified an opportunity to move beyond technical specifications and communicate safety as something personal: the confidence and peace of mind that accompanies everyday journeys.

The campaign targeted established families and younger professionals, combining emotional storytelling with practical information about Toyota Safety Sense technology.

Creative Direction

Built around the idea It's Always a Five-Star Journey, the creative direction connected Toyota's safety technology with familiar moments in everyday life. The concept balanced warmth, humour, and reassurance, translating a functional product benefit into a story about protecting the people who matter most.

The proposed campaign extended across social media, television, outdoor advertising, print, and public relations, with a consistent message adapted to each channel.

Media Planning

To bring the campaign concept to life, we developed a media strategy designed to build awareness and reinforce Toyota's safety message through repeated, meaningful exposure. Our proposed approach combined digital advertising, out-of-home placements, television, radio, and print, considering how each channel could reach audiences at different moments in their daily routines.

The project brought together audience insights, creative thinking, and media investment decisions to develop a cohesive integrated communications proposal.
